WHAT TO DO IN UGANDA?

Bwindi Impenetrable Jungle National Park:

The highlight of any trip to Bwindi is the opportunity to admire the mountain gorillas, an endangered species that lives in the heights of the reserve. In the jungle also live many chimpanzees, Bwindi has the peculiarity of being the only African jungle where these 2 species of primates cohabit.

Murchison Falls National Park

The park is divided by the Victoria Nile River, which flows to the west, between Lake Victoria and Lake Albert, which joins it forming a marshy estuary on the west side of the park. At Murchison Falls, the river rushes about 43 meters down a narrow ravine eight meters wide. It is home to 76 species of mammals and 451 species of birds.

Bunyonyi Lake

 

The lake, 25 kilometers long and 7 kilometers wide, has a fascinating environment, a lovely green color. It is dotted with villages and groups of houses, where life takes place, with a lot of calm. Fishermen with their canoes offer luxury photos, as well as cows grazing peacefully by the lake, or women working the land.

Ssese Islands

These islands escaped the ravages of the Ugandan civil wars and remain basically virgins. Its inhabitants, known as Basese, form a tribal group of their own, with their own language, culture and folklore. They live mainly on fishing and farming. The Ssese islands are a good place to contemplate wild nature (birds, apes, hippos, crocodiles), but also to walk, bathe or sunbathe.

Tombs of the Kings of Buganda in Kasubi

The tombs of the Kabakas (kings) of Buganda occupy some 30 hectares of hills in the district of Kampala. Most of the site is an agricultural area cultivated with traditional methods. At its center, on the top of a hill, stands the old palace of the Kabakas built in 1882 and transformed into a royal cemetery in 1884. The Muzibu Asala Mpanga -the main circular building topped by a dome- now houses four royal tombs .
